DailyAwards.com is a forum for photographers of all skill levels to post their best work and have it evaluated by others in the community. Those who post images also have the opportunity to promote their business. Winning an award gets your image pasted on the home page for the duration of that contest. Win an annual award and your image and a link to your site is pinned for an entire year!
When you create an account on DailyAwards.com, the power of your vote equals 1. As you participate in the community by voting for images and winning awards, the power of your vote increases. See the table below:
|
1 point = 1 weight. User weight is unlimited. Value of a win
To achieve any point level, you must vote for 75 times that # of images. For example, to reach a user weight of 100, you must accumulate 100 points by winning awards and vote for 7,500 images. You may advance directly to level 2 by simply voting for 150 images. |
The accumulation of points represents a weight assigned to you for each vote you cast. For example, if you have reached level 2 status
(account weight = 2) your vote will have double the power of a level one user. Thus, should you cast a vote of 8 for an image, it will
be the equivalent of two level 1 users. See the formula below for a precise understanding of how your vote affects an image score:
[(sum of votes) + (current vote * current weight)] / (total weights so far + current weight)
As you increase your user weight, your account becomes more powerful. When you open a free account, you can upload a maximum of 1 image. Once you cast 150 votes and move to level two, your limit jumps to 2. The simple formula, Weight * 1 gives the number of images you can store at any time. One note of caution here, should you delete an image that has won an award, the power that image gives to your account will evaporate as well! Maximum number of images allowed is 10 plus 250 archival slots. Subscribers get 10x the uploads stated here with 250 archive slots.
A key feature of DailyAwards.com is the randomization of images displayed on the voting page. Each time the system fetches a new image for a user to cast a vote, it randomizes the selection and chooses an image from the pool, given that the user has not previously voted on the image and the image does not belong to that user. Why is this important? This feature ensures that your image, regardless of how long it has been in the system, has an equal chance of receiving a vote. Your image can continue to accumulate votes and feedback for its entire life at DailyAwards.com.
The vote system has an automatic archive feature built in to keep the images in the pool competitive. Archived images function exactly like regular
images except they may not collect any further votes. You may choose to archive an image at any time. Additionally, the system will monitor your images
and if they fall more than two standard deviations below the average for any particular award they are eligible for, they will be automatically archived.
This keeps the images in the voting pool lean and enables you to receive more votes.
Please see this PDF Document for details on the Auto-Archive system. Adobe Acrobat reader is required.
An important note: Images that are archived are still eligible to win any award for which they have collected enough votes.
