Night shots

I'm going to betrying a night photo walk on July 24 (talked about by Snap in the forum under Events) !

I'm totally unexperienced with night stuff and doing it mostly for fun but to learn too. Any suggestions besides a tripod ? I'll be using a 18-55 lens.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated  !
