I started replying to the comments individually ......but then got to the stage that I didn't know the person's real name without tracking back to the votes page and then guessing who the comment had come from - so rather than offend anyone I thought I'd post this instead.  I should really have replied as and when they came in - will know better in future.

It's very true that sometimes what you consider to be the better image...... isn't what others consider to be the better image, this shot was probably my 3rd or 4th choice of the bird but I'm obviously delighted to be proved wrong.

I'd have loved to have let this run for many more votes but decided to archive it after just 38 votes - mainly because it had started to receive votes of a 6 and 7s - mainly from 1 weighted voters though it had also received a 7 from a top weight which I put down to "it being placed in one of their  two Categories" rather than an honest valuation of the shot.  But hey ho I guess we all have to live with such things.  Another reason for archiving when I did was because it's my birthday today - so winning a Front Page Award today ....of all days is extra, extra special to me!
