Hi everyone,

I think I have the 'basics' of this site down pat and have read all about the voting system etc but what I don't understand is the competition side of things.

I realise there is a weekly comp going at the moment based on HARMONY but I'd like to know about the CATEGORIES side of things.

Can I just choose photos and upload them to the relevant headings of the different categories and they get voted on this way? Also, how many can I upload per day to each category?

Cheers

WELCOME SHARRYN,

answers to many questions you might have can be found at the "about" link; and two links found on that page... But asking here is also a good place to find answer....

below is from those pages.....

"As you increase your user weight, your account becomes more powerful. When you open an account, you can upload a maximum of 5 images. Once you cast 150 votes and move to level two, your limit jumps to 10. The simple formula, Weight * 5 gives the number of images you can store at any time. One note of caution here, should you delete an image that has won an award, the power that image gives to your account will evaporate as well! Maximum number of images allowed is 50 plus 250 archival slots.
"

so, basically, new members can upload 5 pics into any category they choose! that's a total of 5 sdread into any category...

You also double you possible upload by subscribing to DailyAwards. The subscription has also some benefits.

You can also buy additional uploads.

You can find all these also on you account page.

The weekly comp (with a new theme every week) is a informal comp organized by DA members. A big thanks for this goes to  TONKA. She puts a lot of work in this to get it started, working and going.

The main competition is the uploads in the different categories (please read Category Definitions). Everyone else will vote on you photos through the voting link (see left navigation bar, last item).

Oh thanks so much for your help.

I understand it now...I think..LOL

When I click on the vote option do the photos come up automatically for me to vote on or are they in some order? Also do the photos go to everyone on the forum to vote on?

The photos are randomly picked out of your voting pool. Everybody votes on everyone photos. You do not vote on your own photos. You have also the option in the voting window to select a specific category or all categories. There is still a little bug in the voting window. If you change from all categories to a specific category and then back to the all selection, the category for the photo is not been displayed under the photo. You have to close and reopen the voting window to have the category of the displayed photo show again under the photo.
