Sorry to bother you all again,,I have some issues. (no comment please )

My first question is ,,,:

In Photoshop, if I want to save a full size edited copy of my image, I use "save as"..now when the window pops up, I choose all things necessary,,but at the bottom of that window it gives me a  "size" choice..currently it is set on 56.6 kbps...is this the proper setting? does this depend on my internet connection? if so how do I know how many kbps I currently am running on?.

Okay second question:...PS elements. pain in the butt.

I tried to do some editing this morning..and is sometimes the case,,when I go to use my blur, or clone, or burn tool..I find that I dont have my little circle thingy but only a dot to work with..though when I use the blur it blurs the size of the pixels I chose but I just cant see what I am doing because the circle/tool is not showing..

This has happened many times before and quite frankly is one reason I have so much disdain for PS..

When I do a computer check for issues there usually always are a few issues with PS..one is :

Unused file extension.PSBfile..and the other is     ..activex/com issue

Sometimes there are others but I just got done reinstalling the program two days ago.

Can anyone instruct me on how to fix this,,I usually delete the entries but this surely must be the reason why I have so much trouble....and I would like to not throw the disc out...argh.

appreciate any help/instructions for this..

Okay. It sounds to me like your problem is with Windows (no surprise) and not PS. Have you done a system update with windows. http://update.microsoft.com It sounds like there is an active x issue there on your system.

Now for your PS problem. If you are only seeing a small dot on your brushes/tools for a cursor, it could be one of two things. Either your brush is too small or you have somehow inadvertently set your brushes to show you the dots. If your paintbrush tips are set for precise, you will get little dots. If you set them to normal, you will see a circle that is sizable. You may then size the brush so that you can see it. The shortcut keys for sizing are Right Bracket and Left Bracket (Larger/Smaller).

You can go into preferences (On PC, I believe it's EDIT> Preferences> Display and Cursors) and change this. See the image below for the settings I recommend for brushes.
It's good to have paint brushes on normal because you see a visual representation of the size of the brush. Otherwise, you are guessing. The cross-hair in the center provides the ability to be more precise about your "aim" than that little cursor that looks like a paintbrush with a tiny little cursor somewhere near the tip.

56.6 kbps is the dial up internet connection speed. Somewhere near that you will see an amount of time listed in minutes and seconds. This is supposed to give you an idea of how long it will take to load the specific image onto someone's internet display device, if they are connecting at 56.6 kbps. Most broadband connections are 1 Mbps or 3 Mbps. You can set this, as follows:

I know it is difficult to find time to read one of the excellent third party tutorials on PhotoShop Elements, but it would be more time efficient to read and understand, rather than curse the program because it won't do what you want it to do. No insult intended.... just a gentle nudge to read one of the books I've recommended.

eninja2k has the brush size issue identified correctly.

Here are the third party PSElements tutorials I recommend:

Adobe Photoshop Elements 5 Book for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelby

Photoshop Elements 4 Solutions: The Art of Digital Photography by Mikkel Aaland

I think it's important to go through one of these tutorials and work on the examples provided. I think both come with a CD of images to work on. This investment of time will give anyone a grounding in the use of the image enhancement application, PSElements.

You may want to try and reinstall elements. Sometimes I think there is a conspiracy by Microsoft to sabotage your computer for a number of reason. I always noticed when a windows upgrade is due to come out the version I had started to have major issues.
Since I switched to Mac, I don't have any problems. I gave my old PC to my girlfriend as it was less than 6 months old. She has problems daily. When I gave it to her, I formatted the HD and reinstalled everything too. We have firewalls and anti-virus so even with all that hassle, she gets frustrated because of the problems.

Just in case you are all giggling at me because I have had problems with color/brightness, etc. That's not because I am "having problems with my Mac" Mac is more of a finely tuned machine and needs more attention to things like that. Whereas, PC's are "dumb machines" Plug and Pray is nice if you are looking to do just that. This machine is more precise and needs fine tuning because of it. It's kind of like the difference between a Stradivarius and that Wal-Mart Violin. Or a BWM and a Hyundai.
Yes, I know I sound like a cult member and in that respect maybe I am but I will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, go back to windows. And as soon as we can afford it, I am getting my Girlfriend a Mac too.
I am telling all my friends...

So, if you are my friend, consider yourself addressed in the matter. If you are not my friend, I recommend a NEW PC AND WINDOWS VISTA! Muahahahah....Muahahahaha....Muahahahaaa.....
