My personal preference is to respond to requests for comments in the wake of my votes. I really like explaining my vote rationale. I sometimes write fairly complete critiques, when I sense it might really help advance the skills of the photographer. The system we have here is pretty good, even if some people opt out.

Hi Everyone, I have been reading these posts with open eyes. I usually don't participate in open forums, as I have learned in the past that (sometimes) opinions can be taken in the wrong manner. Especially when expressions and voice tones can't be heard in the typed words. Thank goodness for emoticons, LOL ie: something I type with intent for laughter, is taken as offensive to another. (Grrr, very frustrating)

So.. going a little against the grain here, I'll give it another whirl. GREAT THREAD!!! I can honestly understand each of your points regarding the comment request button. In the short time I've been here, I've already experienced allot, relating to that little button --- both positive and negative. So I will use my own discretion when requesting a comment, as well as offering my own comments. Already I can see who is just ticked off that I voted a 6 or 7 ... (justification), from those that truly would like to know why I voted the way I did. Fair enough.

As a new photographer, I'm obviously in the learning stages, so my comments are based on what I know and 'see' in the presentation. As I learn and grow, my comments and votes will naturally change too. Having said that, I appreciate and welcome all comments, suggestions, and critiques from everyone, regardless of their level of knowledge. Even the simple little: Lacking Interest comment. Although I may find the subject quite interesting, you can't please 'em all. So I'll take it. LOL

I'm glad I started this thread Very informative.

PS: What you call an outlier vote, I'll refer to as a sniper!!! LOL  So far, that's my only objection to the DA system, but I'll continue to participate, and take it for what it is.

Have a great day!!!
