| Hi there, I'm fairly new to DA, and just recently started to actively participate! On two occasions, I clicked the wrong vote for an image (one was a technical issue, the other was just a human error). My question is, can you withdraw a vote? Or is it just one of those things... "that's the way it goes"... Although I sent the photographers a sincere apology, I was hoping there might be a way to make it right. Thanks so much!!! ~ Sherry Sturgis

Sorry to say that there is no way to make it right...unless Eric can delete the votes...but I don't think so. My mouse has jumped once or twice and my vote has been off without me knowing it. That is the way the vote stayed. So...I think that is what it is!
Welcome to DA and have fun voting lots and lots and lots and lots!

Thanks for such a quick response! That's kinda what I thought... the only "other" solution I can think of is, when the photo comes up again, I'll double up my vote to off set the previous vote. I'm still learning the system here.... Sherry

Yes , Welcome sturgis..!! ..I think you should just continue to vote and not worry about doubling up, but that is just my opinion.. I have ticked the one wrong several times,,,I did also try and send a message asap..one got through though and luckily one member asked for a comment request.. I felt like a big ninny because I did not remember giving that vote or why I did...so I offered my apologies and hoped I was forgiven...and believed . sometimes the kids hit my arm and our new kitten does too so I try and avoid voting during active household times now.. I think that sending a note like you did was sufficient and the one mistake should not offset the image's average much... So enjoy DA!!

| Thanks Tonka, for the welcome and your response! Now that I have everyone's full attention... (LOL) I have another question... regarding the "comment requests" Is it bad policy to ignore a request? My votes are always honest, (unless otherwise noted as a boo-boo) and what I see as a "6" might be a "10" to someone else. I have also clicked that button, 'request comments' ... some have been answered, others ignored. Not a big issue to me... but I wonder about other people's feelings on that button.... and if there's a site policy. I'm here to learn, share, and have some photo fun... not get too involved with the competition factor, otherwise I find myself shooting for the wrong reasons. Maybe someone could just clarify that button for me. Thanksssssssss

| Well you may get opinions from opposite sides of the fence on that question... It comes down to what you feel you must do..so with that said this is my opinion on it.. If you request comments then , I feel you should give comments. If some of your requests are ignored..perhaps you may feel it okay to ignore requests asked for by those who ignore yours.. Personally Sturgis, If everyone ignored my requests, I would not have learned anything and I would prob. stagnate..These are so valuable to those of us with limited education and experience in the photo arena. But also to those continuing to strive to better their already awesome pics. I personally have answered 100% of requests as have others here at DA... I do however feel if your comments are not received in a mature fashion and constructive as they are meant to be no matter how put by the requested , then I would not hesitate to ignore those in the future , well I still wouldprob. answer them and just shrug my shoulders if it is taken defensively while thinking to myself.."then why did you ask me?" "dont ask if you cant take it" Some choose to not answer because they do not wish for their identity to be revealed and I say to that ...well if you are winning awards then, your weight is ever changing so you are not as visible as you think..but I personally feel that it is a respectable point of view should you decide that. Also if you vote very low, such as a 3 or 4 I FEEL that it is ummm. proper to justify that vote so that the voted knows where they went wrong in your opinion... We sit here going "how did I screw up that badly?" it is very frustrating to not know what happened..cant learn unless we know. Okay everyone these are just my own feelings and opinions to be taken or thrown out.. with respect.

Welcome Sturgis.
When i first joined i ignored requests as i didn't know technical terms. Now i'm a tad older and wiser i answer to the best of my ability. But at the end of the day it is personal choice.

Thank you both for your replies! So if I'm understanding correctly, it's a user discretion, not site policy (?) Thanks Again!!!
