It has to be a heck of a flower shot to impress many of us...I'd say it IS doing pretty well with a 7.344 average sig rating.
Anyway, first I think your background for this should not be black. Black makes it so, on my screen at least, I can't see where your shot starts and stops.
I can see now that it isn't actually as centrally cropped as it first appears but the black border makes it hard to tell.
As flower shots go I'd give this a 7 so it's being rated fairly, in my view anyway.
You could bump up the saturation slightly...that might help a tad. Problem is that, although it is pretty, it isn't a particularly interesting flower.
The center is the same color as the petals.
It's nice but not "NICE"!
If it were mine and I really wanted to use it I might doing something like this...(re-crop less centered and re-color)...but then, this makes it
"unreal"...
Just my opinion, of course!

| Hmmm interesting Niki,,, you know.....I really havent attacked the crop skill...have been focusing on crops for thirds and stuff...but not for creative dramatic effect.. I do like the crop you have here! I get so wrapped up in the details of my flowers and their petals and stuff (flowers will always be my first passion) that I kinda get too caught up in that vs. the crop..the ones I do try and get creative with , always end up sucking..lol..so anyway... that will be part of my lesson for the next few weeks to concentrate on...Yes yours is very interesting but no I do not like that unnatural look . I think the petal color is okay but not the center..a bit too bright....just because of this particular flower...the lines of color captivate me along with the detail in each petal...But..I have been wanting to learn how to get different colored bkrnds and have been playing with this feature in ps this week...something I really want to do.. Again this is doing well but my opinion is only mine hence the need to ask lol...(remembering I am trying to please the masses and not just myself.prob. wont ever get over that one 100% ).. So I just wanted to know what would make this a bit more interesting..thank you for your time Niki!! and everyone else in advance

Hello Tonka,
If this was my picture, I would have gone closer in to make a more interesting shot. I mean, it's okey as it is - but not exiting or original. The structure of the flowers petals are great and you could make some interesting compositions with it.
I have made a crop and done some adjustments in curves to give you an idea - you'll see it attached.
