DailyAwards.com will be one year old on January 25, 2007. Thank you for helping to make this site a success! The past year has come with a lot of change that has resulted in a solid foundation for the future.
As a way to say thank you for being a part of the site, every user can pick up a coupon for a free one-month subscription! Just visit the homepage and click on the birthday link at the top of the page! There are no strings attached. Just make sure you add your subscription before the end of the birthday celebration (1/31/07).
I hope everyone takes advantage of this and has an opportunity to try out the advanced features at no charge. If you currently have a subscription, pickup the extra month and add it on to your current term, or use the coupon for adding image uploads.
Again, thank you for being a part of DailyAwards.com in 2006. I hope you continue to enjoy the site throughout 2007.
Sincerely,
Eric Elsten

Congrats on the 1 yr. anniversary and thanks
for the coupon Eric. I tried to use it. Think it worked but not sure...until I see my next credit card bill.

When you apply the coupon, the balance should show: $0.00. If it still shows $3.50 it did not apply correctly. If this happens to anyone, just let me know and I can cancel the transaction.

| Eric, I appreciate the offer to add 1 month to my subscription, but I object to have to enter my credit card information to do it. If this offer is really to say thanks to the members who are helping make the website a success, as you indicated in your letter, and not a means of promoting the google credit card (which I know they are working hard to do), there should be some way that those of us who are already subscribers can get our gift from you without having to enter all our personal information.

The only way the site processes subscriptions is through the Google Checkout service. This is integrated with DA so that when a new subscription is paid for, it will show instantly.
I would like for everyone to become familiar with the Google Checkout system, therefore I require you to process your transaction through them.
Google Checkout is a good service for consumers. It has many privacy and security features built in. In my opinion, there is much less risk in using their system than giving your card to a waiter at a restaurant.
For anyone who has used this service, perhaps you can comment on the positives and negatives you find.

Eric, I am familiar with the Google Check Out System and when purchasing something, have no objection to using it. But in this case I am not purchasing anything, only attempting to add the extra month to my subscription that you were kind enough to offer.
Quoting from your message:
"As a way to say thank you for being a part of the site, every user can pick up a coupon for a free one-month subscription! Just visit the homepage and click on the birthday link at the top of the page! There are no strings attached. Just make sure you add your subscription before the end of the birthday celebration (1/31/07).
"I hope everyone takes advantage of this and has an opportunity to try out the advanced features at no charge. If you currently have a subscription, pickup the extra month and add it on to your current term, or use the coupon for adding image uploads."
With that in mind, I went to the website and clicked on the link, only to find that even though I only want to add 1 the 1 free month to my subscription that I must enter all my credit crd information. In otherwords, despite what is said in your message, there is a string attached to the offer.
This is made even clearer in your response to my first post when you informed us that you were requiring us to check out with Google in order to introduce this to us.
So what is the reason for offering the 1 one month? Is it to say thanks, as you said in your message, or is it to get us involved with the Google Check Out System? It seems that it is the latter.
Why was this not made clear in your message to the members? Why sneak it in through the back door?
I don't often look a a gift horse in the mouth, but this is has become an offer I can, and am, refuse. I'm sorry, Eric, because I admire what you have done and are doing with this website, but I feel that I have been misled.
