Rocket (8/16/2008)
Wilrobking (8/14/2008) I saw a very questionable image in the Creative Photo challenge. Perhaps there should be an alert sent to all moderators and admin when the inappropriate box is checked so it can be addressed quicker.
I take it you mean "Swirls, Curves and things like that ..."
I would call this fine art myself, But then my children are grown up and in there twenties now. If I was viewing with young children then a content filter would be a good idea.
Here is a piece about the photographer from his website.
About Gerhardt
Gerhardt Thompson, fine art nude photographer, earned an MD in Optics in 1980 at Sydney University, Australia and later earned his MBA through Harvard Business School, USA. He has been photographing for over 20 years of which the past 8 have been focused in the capacity of B&W fine art nude in the landscape. His accolades include a solo exhibit in Sydney, three International Exhibits where his work is featured and sold, 40 joint exhibits and six European based Exposes. He has been interviewed by The New Nude Magazine, MeinBerlin.de, Incubus' Choice and Duclerk and his work has been also been published by each of them. He has also been published in the poetry journals The Sow's Ear Review and The Blue Fifth Review both based in the USA. He has published two books Gerhardt - The Book and The Sun Drenched Nude. He is a Judge for Photographic competitions on the photography website PhotoKonkurs.com. His work has won over 60 awards in both open and specific categories and over 70 acceptances/honorable mentions. Currently his photography hangs on walls around the world.
Thanks for the info Ron. I thought the photo was executed superbly. When I stated that the photo was "questionable" , I meant it was close to crossing the line of nudity. I don't have any issues with tastefully done nude photos but can certainly respect the views of others especially those with children.

The site rules clearly state
DO NOT submit obscene, nude, profane, violent or otherwise untasteful images to this site
That was definitley a nude and should not be on DA if the rules say no nudes then no nudes it is.
As I said before I was not offended and thought it was a good photo but others were offended and the image should be removed.
This is just my enterpretation of the rules, but I think they are quite clear as regards nudes.
Cheers
Ron

Okay, under control today-I think
It is a unique situation. The rules do clearly state what they state and they also say the accounts will be removed and there will be no refund. Guess that is the problem with going against the rules. We have pretty decent guys here in charge and even if it is slow, eventually it will happen. If all else fails they will be annoyed into doing 'something'.
The thing I do not understand is why do it in the first place? If it states in the rules it is prohibited and it makes other people uncomfortable, and from what I am seeing these images are from members who have paid to be here, why not just follow the rules and do what is right? Not only do you loose money from trying to prove a point that is pointless, but you also loose your reputation as well. Money can be replaced or thrown away, a reputation pretty much sticks with you for a long time.
I would rather take advice from a low weighted member that is learning the ropes than an award winning photographer if they feel they don't have to follow the rules of the place they choose to be. That is not a person I want to look up to or be like.
Over the past few weeks we have been discussing likes and dislikes influencing the voting and the feeling a photo gives you, what feelings would a person have to have to be malicious at a place they really don't have to be at? It is different when it only effects one person but when it affects many in a negative way, it is time to consider the person or group of people are trying to destroy DA and its reputation.
