maybe on the upload page, the phrase:

"remember, offensive or nude protography is not permitted at DA"

or, " remember, DA is a family-oriented site"

just a thought,

Daniel

Excellent idea Daniel

I am in complete agreement with squashing this problem.  I do know that in the past, it has been dealt with quickly, but Eric has been real busy and may not have been able to get to all of his PMs yet.

.

Meanwhile, we can choose not to vote, which doesn't really help, or we can check the "offensive" box, vote as LOW as the system will allow and send a public comment to the photographer.  It shouldn't take long for them to get the message.

Go when you can, go where you can, shoot what you can

I saw a very questionable image in the Creative Photo challenge. Perhaps there should be an alert sent to all moderators and admin when the inappropriate box is checked so it can be addressed quicker.

Yes Will!  VERY questionable photo...  Jill and Bhasmang will want to send the children out of the room when voting that challenge...  Technically it is a decent photo, but for this site it is indecent....

Checked it out, technically it isn't a decent photo. My boys would have been mentioning that one for days and bringing it up at the wrong time to black-mail me.

I agree that if one can not handle all the messages or is occupied for a period of time then it would be good to delegate while they are busy. The bigger the site gets, the more important it will be to delegate. The problem is finding those willing to help out, who are good at it also.

When the box is checked "this photo is offensive" it goes into the system and sometimes gets deleted before they get a chance to review it. Might help to put the words in the critique box instead and then send an e-mail to admin or wemor with the image info in it, so they can review it and contact the offender.

I don't believe anyone would post "porn" as such on DA.

Jill, are you sure it wasn't an artistic or semi nude shot? Blinkering kids from such images will do them no favours in the long run as they'll soon come across them (or worse) upon their own doing ....sooner rather than later. Have you tried being open with the kids and discussing the artistic values of such images?

If you lock away such things in a cupboard then one day when that cupboard is opened then the chances are it'll have more of a detrimental effect upon them.

You've got to remember too that something like 70% of the internet is sex related - so what do you do?

I'd be interested to know if voting has increased since Jill's post? (Are people trying to find those shots? LOL)

If you want the rainbow - you gotta put up with the rain.

A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel sooooo good!

I don't think Jill needs any advice on how to raise her kids. What she decides is appropriate or inappropriate for her kids is her business. It doesn't matter if it was a tasteful or distasteful nude photo. The terms of use for this site prohibits nude photos.
