Well, go figure, there is somebody who constantly gives my pictures a 10, and I don't even think they deserve one (it is the only explanation I have for a low (same) weight 10 on almost every one of my pictures). I am not complaining either....

likely one of your friends you mailed the phots too is masked

Can't be ... some of them I have just finished photoshoping..... but some others have been around in several magazines with my name under it...so the admirer theory may not be so far fetched.

If you have a problem with reality, quit taking photos and take up painting

Worth thinking about, eh?

It would lead to the same thing. But I figure it has been tried before and led to the same situation.

The problem is that to win then all you have to do is e-mail your friends (members of DA) with your picture title, or background color and letter coloring and...bingo you won.

But hey, I am probably of those who don't care to win. Making a few new friends and some social networking is the goal to be here.

Photography is not to improve reality, but that is the privilege of human action.

I'm not sure what has been tried before and what the situation was. Anything worth considering should be considered, rather than swept under the mat. What I was proposing was not intended to upset anyone's social comfort zone. It is designed to encourage people to think outside the box, challenge the status quo, if necessary, and make changes which are for the general good. Whatever motivations members have for being part of DA, fairness must surely be one of the fundamental tenets of our thinking. We don't have to politicize it. But we do have to listen to what mernbers are saying, and try to focus on their concerns, regardless of what may or may not have happened at some earlier point in the relatively brief history of DA.

Many things could be considered, but being an old cynic I doubt that it would change the politicizing. The only thing that could is that while voting you would be compelled to give a full account of the reasoning and all your votes get checked for consistency, being all inconsistent discarded.

But that would complicate it to the point that we want the politic system back.

Thanks for the info on sizes. I never took this into consideration. I always just thought that the maximum size was the best to submit. I also thought that submitting a 640 was a bad thing and made the photo less appealing due to the inability to look at it closer in full size. I will change my ways from now on and maybe get higher scores.

Robb, like most all of our threads, this one has gone astray, but I'm glad that the 640X info has been helpful.  To the rest, let's get back on track, or start another thread.

Go when you can, go where you can, shoot what you can
