Hi, this is actually related to videography, and not to photography. About 8 years back my parents went to far east on a holiday, and they took my camcorder with them, but when they return we found out that everything they had shot was captured in "negative mode". I checked up then with a few people if they can convert that into the colour mode, but the answer was no. After all these years I wonder if there is any software developed that can do it for me. Has anyone any idea on this, if yes please let me know.

| I've never used it but Adobe aftereffects has the ability to color manage to Kodak 5218/7218 Printing Density which is film negative. It would seem that you could spin it into Premier then output it in 5218 mode. I'm not sure what kind of color shift you would have but it can't be worse than it is now. It's a curious question because I would think that the desire to "go negative" for at least a portion of a film to simulate a time warp or something would come up fairly often. When I get home I'll try it. From a technical standpoint it should be a piece of cake.

Play the negative version of the tape/file to the recorder and record it in negative mode again (is that a double negative?). MIGHT WORK? This would kind of support the theory of Two Wrongs might make a Right! (two negatives make a positive?) WE

Google "video conversion". Lots of service links appear. Certainly one could contact one of those places to ask about feasibility. Certainly this is available somehow.
Mac users hit cntrl+option+command+8 to turn your screen into a negative image anytime. Theoretically, if you were watching the negative video on a mac and inverted the video, you'd see the video in natural.
And, again if you have a Mac, the de rigueur application is iMovie. iMovie has the video effect you're looking for.

Thanks Chris, Wright and Richard, I am sure I'll be able to do that now. You guys are a great help, be it photography/ videography/ anything.....
