OK, I have been struggling with photographing a Mum.  I'm using a Canon Marco lens.  the light is low, inside, natural from daylight, with the light curtains in the room pulled.  I'm using a tripod. small aperature.  about a 2 sec exposures.  ISO. 100.

My prints are grainy! I tried salvaging the photo, in question, with a soft focus.

The one print in question is tltled "soft yellow". any thoughts about what I'm doing wrong, or right are much appreciated.  (sorry, i forget how to post the link here).

Also doesn't look grainy to me. Very pretty IMO.

Edited to add:
Could be sharper though.

More questions, than answers from me.

By graininess, do you mean you saw a lot of electronic noise? In general, with ISO 100 and a 2 second exposure, you shouldn't encounter an insurmountable amount of electronic noise. But, if it is electronic noise, I'd choose something like "Noise Ninja", rather than a Gaussian blur as a solution.

I'm thinking you may have captured this in RAW format. In converting the RAW image to .tiff or .psd, is there a chance some electronic noise was induced? On rare occasions, I have seen PhotoShop "balk" at converting some images from RAW. Are you using your specific camera model profile on whatever RAW conversion software you are using? With a generic or wrong camera profile, the RAW conversion process could produce suboptimal results.

There are a lot of "free trials" of RAW conversion software. So, if you think this might be the problem, try one of these:

Bibble Labs
Breeze Systems
Capture One
