| Yes, I have seen a few of the same images in multiple categories. . As well, some members will do what I call "VOTE HUNTING". A favored image gets a couple of lower votes early in the cycle so they quickly delete then resubmit the shot again hopping for a more favorable mix of voters the second time. . I remember one session recently where the same image appeared three times during my voting. My guess was the photographer kept reentering the image to avoid starting off with a higher weight six vote. I certainly don't know that for sure, but with votes coming so much quicker now, one could roll the dice with an image many times just waiting for a favorable mix of votes. This is another good reason why we need to start thinking about raising the minimum raw vote qualification values.

| There is a issue with raising the minimum that would need attention were that the chosen path. The people that actively manage their portfolio will archive an image if it is unlikly to garner a monthly or even a weekly. Somehow you would have to grandfather in the images or reopen them for votes. Just to be clear, I haven't taken a position on the "minimum votes" question as I'm not sure I know the best course of action. Given that any change to the rules seems to come with it unintended issues I'd much prefer to see the DAGC take all issues as a whole and present a well thought out plan for a solution. Since we are not privy to the raw data I'm not sure we really know what the site drivers are.

| I'm sorry James that you are having your thread highjacked. I still think that my guess, as to why you are seeing the same image over and over, is the most likely situation. Many of us are experiencing this situation.

Hi Photoart,Thats fine with me I am not the debating type any way.But just to respond to your thought as to why. I have been watching for that. And not seeing anything like that at all.A few other people have E mail me said that they notice that at times to.One of them said it was someone submitting in multiple categories and one case was a person pulling out and back in trying to control the ratings. And that does make sense to me.Seems like a lot trouble for a contest that does not have a prize attached to it.Well to each his own.But thanks for taking time to get
back to me and the forums all yours.HA HA just kidding .Till next time Jim JRD50

photoart (3/12/2008) I'm sorry James that you are having your thread highjacked. I still think that my guess, as to why you are seeing the same image over and over, is the most likely situation. Many of us are experiencing this situation.. photoart (3/10/2008) James, My guess is that you have been banned from voting on that persons images. If you have been banned, you will have to vote on the same image over and over again until the person archives the image. Most likely, you will have to vote on it at least 8 times in every voting session. (and that will be 8 times on every image that that person has in the pool). The way that you can tell if this is the case, look at the little window in the upper right hand corner and see if the image appears after you vote on it. If it is not there, then you are banned. Also, another way to tell is to look up at the very top of the window immediately after you vote on the image and there will be a line which says, "you are not permitted to vote on this person's images". I have asked for a change to be made where these images do not appear over and over again, but as always, I have been ignored. If this happens to be the case, you will just have to learn to live with it. Check this out and see if this is the problem.
DeborahAs James has been a member for a little less than six weeks I highly doubt that he is experiencing any FRIEND/FOE voting block on images. I could be wrong, but I find it highly unlikely. I would also suspect that should any FRIEND/FOE voting block be put in place the effected voters would be notified of such actions.

Wemor,
FYI, voters are not notified whenever a block is put in place. And 6 weeks would be plenty of time for a member to get banned, in fact 6 days is more than enough.

Deborah
How do you know you have been banned for collusion voting, then? From how many friend/foe collusions have you been banned? Why should the friend/foe collusion block not be permanent?

Richard,
You can tell when your votes do not register and recently, Admin has put up a statement that shows immediately after the vote which says "you are not permitted to vote on the last person's images. I don't know how many blocks that I have. I can see the images in which I am not allowed to vote, but with no idea who these images belong to, there is no way of counting blocks. As far as I know the blocks are permanent. I have heard nothing otherwise.
