Hi Fellow Members, This is Jim JRD50 I have been a member a little over a Month now and by the way this site has been so welcoming to me a newbie in the Photography world and you have something here that is not so easy to find in the times we live.I just hope a few do not ruin something that has become enjoyable to me and I know many others that have encouraged and help me become so much a better photographer in such a short period of time.Sorry I tend to ramble on some times. My original question was. I thought I might be wrong, that we are only going to vote/judge an image one time. And I mean the exact same one not resubmitted.I seem to be getting some images over and over again. I do not mind. But I can see a problem with that is if I should happen to see it again and maybe see something in it I may not have noticed the first time and the ratings are not the same.I do not want to have explain why.Any one who has had me look at their work knows I put comments on every one I judge.Well thats it. Once again THANK YOU FOR AN ENJOYMENT I LOOK FORWARD TO DAILY!!! Jim JRD50

James,

first of all I want to thank you for all the comments that you make on the images you vote on. We should all be that gracious with our time here at DA. About the repeating images, hmmmm...it might be a glitch in the system which you may want to report to Eric, or more likely just users uploading multiple images. Next time, comment on the image about it and perhaps the user might explain.

James,

My images are always a work-in-progress with many flaws and much needed room for improvement. When I receive helpful constructive criticism, in terms of votes and comments, I will re-work images to incorporate the suggestions and recommendations. It is not uncommon for me to delete an old, weak version of an image and submit an improved version. If you are voting a lot every day, which I think you are (thanks, btw), you may see a few of my images come up in an improved iteration.

Maybe others are in the same operating mode. I think photographers can and should try for the best presentation. That said, two identical images uploaded and active at the same time is not a good idea and should be discouraged
.

James,
My guess is that you have been banned from voting on that persons images. If you have been banned, you will have to vote on the same image over and over again until the person archives the image. Most likely, you will have to vote on it at least 8 times in every voting session. (and that will be 8 times on every image that that person has in the pool). The way that you can tell if this is the case, look at the little window in the upper right hand corner and see if the image appears after you vote on it. If it is not there, then you are banned. Also, another way to tell is to look up at the very top of the window immediately after you vote on the image and there will be a line which says, "you are not permitted to vote on this person's images". I have asked for a change to be made where these images do not appear over and over again, but as always, I have been ignored. If this happens to be the case, you will just have to learn to live with it. Check this out and see if this is the problem.

Deborah

I, like Richard, have taken a couple of suggestions lately and deleted the existing image then reposted an improved version. That may be the situation you are experiencing or perhaps you just keep seeing the subject matter over and over. Are they Flys or Blue Herons? [Grin] ( I say that because I've shot both.

Hear hear!!! Thank you from me as well. As for repeating images, in the past I used to double check by visiting the photographer's portfolio, and, believe it or not, only came across one set of images that were completely identical. I commented about this on one of the images, (in a friendly way), and received a reply from the photographer that he agrees and that he will contact Eric about this. Also in a friendly manner. I believe there might be more in the pool, but I'm never 100% sure, so I do not comment on it.

I still feel that people should specify when they do a reload. Especially fly's and heron's , goodness gracious Chris, do you have a voice left after speaking to all those animals and insects? What do you talk about?....jk.

Hi Every one Who Responded to my question. The answer was no you should not get the same photo to judge.FYI One day a week ago I was looking at some Portfolios and did come across some that had the same person put comments in more then one time. And by the way they commented was as if they were viewing the image for the first time .Like I said no big deal.I will watch more closely and maybe find some examples to bring up.Thanks to every one for giving me the answer.Till next Time JRD50

Because it only takes 15 votes for an image to win a category or a daily award, an image can appear on the front page for all to see. Frequently, I will offer congratulations via public comments. If the image is not archived right away (and good images should stay in the voting pool for a long time), it's very likely that a known image will appear in lots of voting windows and receive more comments at voting time.

I don't see a problem with this. Do you? Knowing the author does not change my vote on an image. I vote on the image irrespective of who made it.

Also, many of us have recognizable styles & subjects. It's almost like a fingerprint. I don't know of a way to conceal my style. It's very common for me to receive the comment, "This is not one of your better images." LOL!!
