| I'm sure glad that you, Kiwi, of all people, saw the humour in my last post. Anyone who refuses to make a comment on their vote, when so asked is a dickhead. In making that response you are abdicating all personal responsibility, acting unethically, and fostering many negative feelings. I have absolutely no time for any contradictory viewpoint - RFC'S must be answered. The right to silence exists in the criminal code - here we are more civil.

| When demanding responses to Comment Request we often overlook the fact that perhaps less than 5% of the site's members actually issue such request (only 7% of the membership have access to the comment request function). . Still, many expect the other 95% of the membership to freely respond to a program that they may only participate in from the response side of the ledger. . Perhaps if a response is expected, they should only go out to those that can issue request as well.

Oh, that explains why I get such warm, grateful responses from people whose images I've commented upon. Whether it's a word of encouragement or suggestions for improvement, comments left at the time of voting seem to be much appreciated. I think most people, in general, are hungry for feedback on their creative efforts.

WE, only subscribers can get the RFCs function alright, but non subscribers can reply to the RFCs when they are requested to, right? Please correct me if I am wrong. And I would also suggest that how about making replies to RFCs compulsory for those who have weight under 10. By this way it would eliminate or lower the chances of ghost accounts being created simply to vote down others' images if they are any... what say guys?

| Truth be told if their weight is under 10 why even bother? It has such little effect on the outcome that it's best to ignore it. When starting out I remember that when someone would ask me for a critique I wouldn't feel comfortable with responding but did the best I could, sure enough the response from them was harsh. After a couple of times of this happening I stopped visiting the siteand never returned to. Now I know it was an overreaction on my part that ruined the experience but somewhere in there is a lesson for those that can be harsh toward newbies. If we all could climb out of ourselves a bit this would be a much better place. One last thing. Let's imagine that there is someone out there voting everything down, Is a comment request really going to make a difference? If they are low enough to cheat on a contest that has no prizes do you really think that they will give a RFC with any value. Now if your goal is to flush out a Bot... Trust me, if you can write a bot, you can add a bot to respond to comment requests with a varied enough set of replies that you would never know it was a Bot. Something like: I didn't like the balance. (What the hell does that mean?) The tonal differences were a problem for me. Did you sharpen it? It was ok but it just didn't speak to me. A saturation adjustment is in order. Whoops I hit the wrong button Or even "Good Capture - Keep shooting" (that's a classic on a 5 rated image!). If you went by category or did any programmatic analysis of the image at all there are a host of others that you could use. In fact, given that only members can request a RFC, the person could actually look at the image and pick a reason that makes sense. Run the numbers, most can't request comments, of those that can most won't, of those that would most of the images would be somewhere in a reasonable range of a 6. (I know that few of my images get through 60 votes without at least one 6)
