A guy I'm sure some of you may have heard of is Harry Benson - here's what Wiki says about him:
Harry Benson, born in Glasgow, Scotland, is an internationally renowned photographer. His pictures have appeared in many publications including Life, Vanity Fair, People and The New Yorker. With a body of work covering more than fifty years, and now in his seventies, Benson continues to work from his adopted home of New York, where he lives with his wife Gigi. He has two grown-up daughters.
Some of Benson’s photos have achieved iconic status. His first international break came when assigned to travel with The Beatles to America in 1964, and perhaps his most recognisable image shows the band erupting in a gleeful pillow fight on hearing that "I Want to Hold Your Hand" had reached number one.
Other celebrities Benson has photographed include Michael Jackson, who allowed him access to his bedroom, and Elizabeth Taylor, who Benson photographed before and after her brain surgery. He has also taken photos of political figures, including every US president since Dwight D. Eisenhower, and covered war zones.
Benson has been the subject of numerous exhibitions, taken over a hundred cover shots for People, published several books and won many awards. He was the subject of an award winning documentary directed by Ken MacGregor and written by William McIlvanney. Most recently he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Scottish Press Photography Awards on April 25th, 2006.
The Bio on his own website gives a lot more details and is worth reading - his Portfolio is very impressive and you can see why he's been so successful:

(Flash website, can take a few seconds to load)
I first heard of him late last year when he was on TV promoting an exhibition he's doing in Glasgow this summer. More to do with the stage I'm at and my own ignorance I guess.
Anyway, Enjoy and let me know what you think.
(Could someone insert the hyperlink please? Why does it not work for me??)

Henrik, ever thought about running for office? No! I have more the problem that I cannot remember names. If I see photos in magazines, shows, ... I remember the photos, but if you ask me a few days later who the photographer was ... blank ... I have to write it down or save the link. So I could tell you that I was blown away by this and that photo that I saw in this museum or gallery, I just don't remember the name of the photographer.

I'm not sure if Faisal has got a potential weight as such but not that it matters too much I guess. He's certainly one of the most talented photographers on DA - got a fantastic eye for an often unique and/or powerful shot. Certainly someone that many of us can learn from!!
We're really lucky here on Da that we have so many great photogs taking part - and it's very heartening that we're also attracting lots of new great photogs too. Some of the shot's being submitted recently by newer members are great!!
