In response to the comments regarding the new upload throttle, I have set a rule to allow any user who has cast more votes than received to bypass the site-wide vote throttle. This keeps us from penalizing those who do maintain vote equity.

Good move Eric. The only concern I have about this is will those in deficit have to vote on an unspecified amount of images before they can upload. Its very frustrating to sit and vote without any clue as to how many votes must be given before an upload is permitted. Personally I feel it would be better to institute a fixed amount which could maybe be linked as a percentage of the members overall deficit. All I'm saying is give them a number, a set amount of votes, in order to  get the throttle lifted.

You make a good point. I can see how someone could vote for hundreds of images, but miss a chance to upload as others just get to the page as it opens. Ideally, however, I hope to keep the site consistently above whatever threshold is set, so that users in a deficit encounter the upload limit most frequently.

I will definitely be watching this configuration and tweaking to find the best balance.

Great job done Eric, I voted for around 222 images yesterday to get one of my images uploaded, but couldn't do that......... and since this morning I have been able to upload three of them as I am around 1000 votes + in terms of voting and receiving votes ratio...........
