The challenge system for DAv3 is nearly complete. I have reset all the votes on the previously submitted challenge ideas. If you have some time, please visit http://v3.dailyawards.com/members/challenge.aspx and vote for the ideas presented. I will then activate a few of the top ideas and you will then be able to upload and vote within those challenge topics.

Some details:
- Challenge votes are weight limited to the threshold between standard and signature (presently a weight of 17)
- The challenge vote page is very basic and does not allow comments or show your last vote. This is by design as challenges are short events.
- Challenge images are uploaded separately and remain separate from the rest of DA
- Challenges are limited to subscribers.

Please post any issues you run across or comments you may have here. Thanks for helping to make v3 great!

So do we pick the order of the topics listed?...using 1 for the first challenge we would like to see go up?

Or using 1 as the best challenge idea?

I will add instructions to the page.

You should rate each idea on a scale of 1-10 (10 being highest). The ideas are independent.

I think the voting for challenges means.

10 if you realy want to see this challenge and will participate and a 1 if you think its a bad idea and probably will not participate.

I think an 8 might means you like the idea but cannot think of what to compete with.

eg: Fireworks is a good idea, but save this challenge for around new year when we can all capture firework images during new year celebrations.

Thats how I interpreted it anyway.

Cheers

Ron

Eric, do you think (if other like the idea) to reduce the scale to 3?

1 = probably will not participate ( do not like it)

2 = I don't know. Maybe I will, maybe I will not. ( neutral )

3 = I defiantly will participate in this challenge ( like it )

I could do that, but it is some effort so I will wait to see if people find the 1-10 to be too much.

There is now an open challenge. You may submit images to this challenge. After at least 20 entries and at least 7 days, the challenge should 'close' and go live for voting.

Here are voting details (many of these things are adjustable, so if you have a strong opinion, feel free to share it)
- Images are presented in the order of those with the fewest votes first
- Images accept 20 votes then they will no longer be displayed
- After all images in that challenge acquire 20 votes, the challenge ends

That's as far as I've gotten. I think I will not add an award class for challenges, but rather just list the images sorted by rating.

To submit an image, click on the challenge name under "open" challenges (this was not working earlier today).

Finally, any challenges that are run while v3 is in beta testing will likely not be carried over when it goes live.

Thanks to all who have spent some time testing out the new site!

Eric, will you post a trophy in the future?..I really think there needs to be a ribbon or something....

Also , will you have room for comments on all of the images after voting so that people can get comments, thoughts and tips?

I will consider the ribbon idea ... the trouble is that may creep into demand for weight points from challenge wins and as that feature is only for subscribers, I'd prefer to keep the weight reward in the regular contest.

My vision is of a 'results' page for each challenge. So, the challenge ends, then it goes into 'block 4' of the challenge page where you can click on it. Doing so will show you a table of all the images that participated, ranked by their score. If I were to add ribbons, I would do so for first, second and third place.

I will put your second suggestion on the to-do list and add a feature allowing users to send private comments to those on the results page. Public comments are not permitted on challenge entries - although I could have a general public comment section on the results page (at the bottom) where people can type their thoughts about that challenge.
