First, is it possible for an archived picture to win anything? I guess the answer is yes since one of mine did. Are there just not enough entries in
some categories or how does that happen? My
winning picture only has a 6.8 average score (although, of course,
it deserves much more!).

Second, if you receive notification of winning
something but don't come to the site for another day
or two is there an easy way to find out which
picture of yours won ?

The Past Winners page only shows one picture per date.

Thanks.

Archived images can win awards. They are treated just like active images, except they cannot collect more votes, thus they can only win awards for which they have enough votes to qualify.

There is no way today to see past category winners - but that's a good enhancement request for v3. I can see a page that will let you enter a date and see all the winners.

Thanks, yes, if the answer was basically "no" then
I had already planned to suggest something like
that for DA 3.0

Do you need an official request in the appropriate
part of forum?

If you want to see if any of your images have won recent category awards during your absence, you can always scan your profile page.  The award dates are listed for each image.  Recent dates should be pretty easy to distinguish.  WE

Just curious how much trouble it would be to actually add the name of the image to the "you've just won an award" email?
