We live in a colorful world. One can enhance the forum experience by adding color to text. It's not intuitively obvious how to do this, so I'm posting this short tutorial.

Here's the code format to enter in the text box to produce the result shown at the top of this post. Choose your own color from the choices on the chart at the bottom of this post.

If you click on the text color icon, a hexadecimal color dialogue box will appear. Just enter your six digit hexadecimal code from the color you wish. Be sure to enclose the six digit code within quotation marks.

I just wanted to check and see if I could change it by using the font icon in the toolbar.  As of right now... it still looks blue.

Here is my test

WOW! It did it!  I am going to have to write my favorite color down... and put it in my notes so that I can just copy and paste it each time.

Thanks Richard!

hmmm...We'll see what happens.  I put the above text in between the format code... wouldn't let me post it.

It would appear that some text has to be included "outside" of the format code or it is not recognized and you are not allowed to post.

Yes, there must be some undefined text outside of the brackets. Otherwise, the server is unaware of the presence of a message.

Glad you like this forum feature!

Thanks, this is useful info.

(edited to fix lack of quotation marks around hex code)

Just bumping this up to help others find the pathway to using color text. It's not intuitively obvious. The methods are listed above.

Since I originally posted this information, I've discovered a shortcut. Instead of placing the hexadecimal number between the quotation marks, you can use some of the common color names..... like "red" "green" "blue" "black" "purple" "magenta"

Hope this helps!
