| Yes The dog naturally has some pink skin in there but yes..there is a pinkish, redish hue about which I think is just from the sky colors , since they are so intense.. I guess this would sorta classify as removing "blemishes" on people portraits ?... ... yes I too see the pink in the coat and eyes as well..

I want to show you this. I think you are looking at the result of the sky acting as a filter. While that sky was not the real sky, the colors are reddish because it was near sunset.
Below, I made a separate hue/saturation layer to show how much desaturation I needed to do in order to get rid of most of the pink. It looks okay but not natural to me because it looks like the dog was PS'd into the scene. The telltale signs of which are USUALLY lighting being different on the subject than the background; different color, different direction, etc.
I had to drop the red saturation nearly 50% to get rid of the pink. Prior to that it was "normal".

Oh and incidentally, I think your eyes "fill up" with the dominant color and everything looks that color. The selective desat version I did was the exact same as the other one with a channel mixer layer and a mask over the dog. Meaning, no effect on the dog between the two pics.

| Okay let's talk about theory here... Just like others vote on pics according to all the other pics in the universe they have seen... I look at pics based on all the real life objects I have seen.. The first pic you posted does not look like the natural colors of that specific coat color.. I like your image,,,it is dramatic.. I am split between lookin at the gorgeous sky color and the dog though.. Here is the thing ,,whether there was change to the dog or not, with filters and whatnot...the dog "looks" red/pink.. The natural pink skin which is usual under a sparse white coat and totally natural is one thing...the brindle brown also "looks" reddish.. In Kiwi's version , the tone in the coat is not noticeable .. and I personally prefer it.. Now the way I see it is this...approx. half of us see one thing and the other half does not.. So what I want to ask you En, is this... Does the coat not look reddish to you? or the eyes?.. We will set aside the natural pink of the skin under the white of his chest ... Now I am intrigued LOL... I don't think I am "colored disabled" ..nor do I think you are... So it must either be a pc issue or it really is a female/male thing.

Well, tell me what you see in this final version. The most recent one I posted. Is there too much pink there? If so, than I think it has to be your colors. Probably because I think LCD's generally look more saturated than CRT's because of the way they handle output. I reduced the red sat. 48% on the dog. Anything more than that and the "reddish brown" color started to look gray.
By the way, Kiwi's version looks terrible here. Not her fault I am sure. She probably sees something different on her LCD than I do on my CRT.
I can also understand the background competing for your eye with the dog. I wanted this to look like a "fine art" painting more than a photo. The people who own this dog are super rich so I am trying to give them something they would love to have on their wall as a piece of art. Obviously, I have taken more photos that I am working on. They will have options.

On your last version here,,,the white area does look very close to true color ,,to life that is... ..and yes it does look better ..well to me anyway.. I know monitors have differences..especially if they are or are not calibrated but I like your latest version much better than the first one with those color differences.. ...okay ,,well if you are done with me....LOL...I am gonna eat some more cheese puffs. ewww they are so bad for me..

Hey 2K, got quite a shock when I read that my version looked terrible. I do have an LCD screen calibrated. The pic I edited I would have put in competition. I do prefer your version of desaturated background, but still a lot of pink in brindle coat and white of eye.
Interesting 2K, cos you posting this pic, in my mind has raised question yet again of what everyone actually sees on their monitors!!! Could explain the vast range of scores on some pics.

| Kiwi, I like the white in your pic even better...the lighting though on the left is a bit harsh/bright but still,I think ridding the pink gives a bit more definition/pow to pup.. ..JMO... But I want to know En, if you saw all the red/pink in your original version??? as compared to your last posted version here?
