Not to put a damper on things but one reason that could be attributed to the impression of overall image quality while voting recently is the fact that the site opened up voting for all images beyond the past 90 day voting record. This would have reintroduced into the voting pool a high percentage of images that had passed the various quality gates. No doubt the overall impression is that the images are good but that has been somewhat influenced by the one time change outlined in this thread. WE

Leighann, I do believe Eric mentioned that this might happen with some member's accounts but I cant remember where that thread is...He said that some may end up voting twice on some images ...

I was voting yesterday and I happened to glance at a couple of times that after I voted, very quickly before the next image loaded, there was a sentence at the top of the page saying, "It appears that you have already voted on this image , your vote will not count"...Or something like that..but it was gone in a flash so I wasnt able to read the whole thing,,..

so I think not to worry on this one..:)...but not positive..

PHEW!!! {sigh of relief} I also noticed this! I was actually worried there for a while that I'm in such an exceptional good mood and that it caused my voting scale to be too high, but gosh, they just keep on coming, one after the other, great images!!:P

I too have to say you do DA proud!

It really is great and as Richard says a joy to vote on all these images. Very pleasurable!!

I do feel that, in general, that the "standard" vote is nearer a six than a seven now but ......at the same time those extra special images stick out .....don't they!? And, they are well and trully worthy of their higher scores!

Just a few things to iron out guys - but DA is getting better and better!!!

We're all part of it..........so take "another bow!" :D LOL

Yes there is absolutely an increase of photos with a WOW factor.

Sort of ironic that the overall website voting scale is now lower than it used to be.

The repercussions of this are problematic, but not insurmountable. My suggestion is that members take time to look at the images and reward the excellent images with excellent scores. Expand your voting range. The range is 1 to 10. Reward the images that make you say "wow" with a comment. Let's celebrate the success and progress of our peers[/color]!

Totally agree with you Sherry, I think that the overall stock of the voter's pool is becoming a lot more competitive - some fantastic images out there! And it's a joy to see!!

Take a big bow guys cos you're doing yourselves and DA very proud!!

Well I had a free day today, and spent a good portion of it "voting"!! (lately I've been addicted) :w00t:

And I must say... "WOW" -- there are some spectacular images in the voting pool! Some I had seen in the winners circle already, but most not.. so I suspect they'll be appearing soon.

Fantastic work, and Bravo to you all!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed each and every photo I voted on! :D

So if you havent voted lately... you're missing out on some wonderful photography!
