If anything, I think that the Challenges may be somewhat lowering the primary site voting. Those votes are not considered in the contest tally and overall voting ratio. Each challenge requires 1750 votes (35 images x 50 votes per image) from the membership. WE

Since the sister site opened the vote ratio has dropped. Are their any plans to review the required vote ratio until our numbers go back up?

I do hope that Chaba has not left over the misunderstanding with the never wone before challenge. I am sure the entry was a misunderstanding as Chaba may have well thought the 'never before 'applied to the image. I will miss his work, fascinating as it is and I am sure if he goes it will be great loss to the site.

I do hope the 'challenge' issue will now be 'let go'.

Sea Belle check out the never won before challenge.

Everyone else, try uploading at a different time of day, it might help. Also avoid speed voting or other such practices. Usually if you keep your voting ratio above the 1.5 you can still upload. One persons voting frenzy is not going to make a large difference in the overall ratio. It takes many votes from many people to raise the ratio.

I believe that uploads are open for everyone anytime the vote ratio is at 1.5:1 or greater. I would say that the ratio is at that level the vast majority of the time. Also, with summer ending and the days shortening I suspect we will see an increase in voting levels as activities move back inside. This should help sustain a better voting ratio. WE

Controling your voting Ratio can be done in several ways, it seems....

1. Sumbit fewer images. 2. Archive sooner. 3. Delete duds sooner 4. Vote more.

The current requirements seem reasonable...

Whenever the overall site voting ratio falls below 1.5 votes per day per image (4000 images need 6000 votes per day) uploads are restricted for members who have voted less than 1.5 times the number of votes they have received. This is in an effort to control the images in the voting and maintain a stronger vote ratio.

You have received 32,258 votes and cast 28,263 votes. That is a vote ratio of 0.876 : 1. You (and all other members with less than a 1.5:1 ratio) are blocked from uploading new images until the overall site ratio exceeds 1.5 to 1 (right now it is 1.4661:1).

Casting additional votes will help to raise the site vote ratio and reopen the contest pool for new entries. WE

Thanks for being a part of DA. Recently, a technical site change was made to alleviate a bottleneck within the voting system that was created as a result of the numerous site changes when we moved to DAv3. As a result of this, many users were able to vote where they had previously been constrained. As a result of that, the vote ratio went from approximately 2:1 to over 5:1! That means any image in the system is, as of this writing, getting over 5 votes per day! This is why your images are needed!

It seems clear to me that the changes to improve the voting ratio have been even more successful than what was imagined and it indicates there is an abundance of voters and a lack of images. At present, there are only about 1,400 active images in the system whereas there were over 10,000 before the move to v3.

So, if you have images that you'd like to submit for feedback, now is a perfect time. I believe you will be happy with how many votes your images will rake in.
