Best of the Best

I'd like to see a pro-challenge for the signature voters only. They would compete in every category to see who the best of the best really is. It would work just like the regular challenges except maybe just focusing on one topic (category) at a time. Maybe let just the standard voters vote on the images (i don't know if that's possible) or have everyone vote but in the end the signature member with the highest score wins VICTORY!! :w00t:

Each category has it's leaders but can the category leaders hang with the rest? LOL ~ ;)

NOTE: The pro-challenge will NOT take the place of the regular challenges. :crazy:

Question about Voting in Challenges

First, I don't know if my question belongs here or if it belongs under "Ask Questions", so please let me know...

Ok, do you vote with the same criteria in the Challenges as you do in the regular voting? I hope I don't offend anyone, but by and large the quality of the photos are not as good as what we see in the regular competition. I find that I tend to vote more along the lines of how this photo compares with that photo. I still consider technical/creative merit, but I also compare. In regular voting I try to never do comparisons and rather vote on each photo on its own merits.

I also find that I vote much higher in Challenges than in regular voting, mainly because I'm putting a much higher weight on how well the photo embodies the category.

So, what do you do? Do you treat challenges any differently than the regular competition? Is my voting style off base?

I noticed a couple of current challenges have not yet been open to voting. Is there a reason why? They each have plenty of entries...based on the 20 that I had noticed before in other challenges.

Hey everyone,

I know there are other areas being worked on in DA right now but challenges are kinda special to me and I am hoping that this area can be fine tuned in the future as well..

so,

I just wanted to ask others how they feel about the challenge area and hopefully get some ideas for Eric in the future.

While speed is a good thing, I feel too much is not. I was wondering if maybe the challenges might be better based on time rather than an amount of votes or piccies. Like if they are open for a week for upload and then a week for votes..I think a month is too long but thought there could be a better solution.

Or does everyone like how unbelievably fast some of the challenges go up for vote and then win?

Also , (sorry I fogot who) but someone mentioned be able to view all entries , I am guessing for comparison sake and to sample the whole..

I do like the gaurantee that everyone will get the same amount of votes though so instead of having the challenge open for a week of voting , it could still be for a number of votes but I feel that perhaps more should get to vote on the challenge entries than 20..

other issues? thoughts? ideas? opinions?..

My apologies to all those members who submitted images for the Primary Colours challenge. I voted according to my belief that the primary colours are red, yellow, and blue. Is there a difference between primary colours of light and primary colours? (as in painting) I always thought that the primary colours were red, yellow, and blue. Again, if I'm wrong, I'm very sorry for scoring your images lower if they contained red, blue, and green.
