"View Thumbnails"

Is anybody else encountering this problem?

When you click on a member's user name in the forum and say "View member's profile", you are taken to the member's profile. But when you click "View thumbnails" on his/her page, the thumbnails that are shown are [b]your own[/b] on [b]your page[/b].

Anybody? Just wondering, not that it's such a big deal, but it doesn't really make sense. :blink:

I have a spelling checker --
It came with my PC
It plane lee marks four my revue
Miss steaks aye can knot sea.

Eye ran this poem threw it,
Your sure real glad two no.
Its very polished in it's weigh,
My checker tolled me sew.

A checker is a bless sing,
It freeze yew lodes of thyme.
It helps me right awl stiles two reed,
And aides me when aye rime.

To rite with care is quite a feet
Of witch won should be proud.
And we mussed dew the best wee can,
Sew flaws are knot aloud.

And now bee cause my spelling
Is checked with such grate flare,
Their are know faults with in my cite,
Of none eye am a wear.

Each frays come posed up on my screen
Eye trussed to bee a joule
The checker poured o'er every word
To cheque sum spelling rule.

That's why aye brake in two averse
By righting wants to pleas,
Sow now ewe see why eye dew prays
Such soft wear for pea seas[/color]!

Lost in Translation????

Anyone speak/read Spanish or Portuguese? I got a reply to an RFC that said "Totalmente poluida" I used an online translator and got "totally poluida" I googled the word "poluida" and couldnt find an exact translation but I did find photos labeled "aqua poluida" which depicted polluted water...should I assume that the reply is meant to say "totally polluted?" I hope not....that wouldnt be very friendly, would it?

Forum Design Change

The forum design has obviously changed. Please do not manually select the older style as it will be deleted soon and this will cause you issues.

Let me know if you encounter usability issues or if you have design suggestions.

Now when you click on a user's name in the forum and select the profile link, it will take you to that user's main profile page instead of the forum profile.

Sooner or later, as the website forum grows in popularity and use, Eric will one day find the bandwidth use to be unacceptable. An economy measure to help in the short run and long run would be to encourage the use of click-to-expand thumbnails. This forum post will describe how to create these display efficiency shortcuts.

Use Eric's URL (Uniform Resource Locator) code to call up the resizer:
http://www.dailyawards.com/imager.aspx?ImageID=XX&Width=XX&Height=XX&Quality=XXX

You will need the specific ID# of the image in your account storage. It will be a 5 digit number located in your image stats list. For example, one of my archived images is 90697. You should plug your number into the resizer URL, along with your desired thumbnail size and quality requirement. For example, the URL would look like this....

http://www.dailyawards.com/imager.aspx?ImageID=http://dailyawards.com/update_img.aspx?ImageID=90697&Width=150&Height=150&Quality=100

Copy that URL and use the "Insert Image" icon (paste in the URL) to produce an image that looks like this....

But, the image above is not clickable..... yet. In your forum message text box, you will need to select over the code which contains the img..../img portion, but be sure to include the brackets. Then click on the insert hyperlink icon and type in (or paste in) the URL of the full sized image you wish to display. The image below is clickable.

Doesn't have to be an image stored at dailyawards.com. You can use a thumbnail image from elsewhere and link it and make it clickable in the same way.

The thumbnail below is representative of an image stored at PhotoBucket. I used the "insert image" icon to place the thumbnail's URL. But, I've made the thumbnail clickable by embedding that URL of the thumbnail within a hyperlink to the full sized image. Click on the image to see a new window (or tab) open with the full size image displayed[/color].

Please can everyone that reads this vote in the poll. It has been suggested that very few participate in the forums. I think a large percentage of the membership do actually read the forums but care not to participate. You do not need to reply to this but just select one of the above options and vote. That way we can all see the number that read them if not participate in them.

Also I will get the highest poll count ever on Daily Awards.(as well as my claim to fame "the first post ever on this new site")

So if you are reading this you must select one of the options or I will send someone round to sort you out. (It will be painful) If you press the back button on your browser before voting you will get an electric shock.

Please change your forum user names...it makes it really hard to tell who's who. Those temporary user names were meant to be temporary. To change your user name click on Control Panel at the top of the page. Then go to Registration Details and update it there. We all thank you.

okay well I couldntfind this debate (In earlier discussions )so I am posting in here in Reference to Wilrob's and Hawks comments on comments since I did not think it had anything to do with the anonymous poll...

This is absolutely and issue with me as well...I have to say that I rarely get "ignores" from unmasked voters though,,,I actually dont think I have gotten even one..I was hoping that those who wish to remain masked would now give feedback since they will be anonymous now....I know there are some who will say they do not need to justify their votes and that it has nothing to do with dishonest voting but I agree that we are supposed to learn something here...

I also want to bump up the fact that some request comments but do not give them back...this had been stated in earlier discussions, happened to me a few times and probably to others as well...so I would hope that if you are not willing to give them..do not ask for them.

I also was wondering what the thoughts about Hawk's suggestions were on this topic from the poll thread....

This is TOTALY Unacceptable to me!!!

First of all, I would like to let everybody know that I have ALWAYS been a SOLO player on this site, never a member of any gang, never known anybody, and hardly ever exchanged any PMs with people!

I questioned people where I felt like I shoud, and I agreed with people where I felt I had the same opinion.

This is what I learned today from the forum:

1) New rules by admin about "deleting posts" at a members request.

2) BluIce decided to leave.

3) Then I go to the thread The Welcome Wagon, which was the most troubled thread on this forum and I can't believe my eyes! (BluIce posts were deleted, Richard Hahn's stay. The whole thread is now a complete nonsense, looking like BluIce is the GUILTY one.)

Well is she? I don't know. But I would like to know.

Are we AGAIN manipulated by a certain member and his demands? I don't know and I would like to know!

Did the GUILTY stay and the innocent leave or vice versa? I don't know but I would like to know!

Is this community considered to be a "barrel of spinless monkeys" by some people and the admin so that they feel they can shove anything to our throats? I don't know but I would like to know!

What is going on here?

Can anybody have anough balls and step up, say the truth out loud, and finaly close this case?

I certainly don't want to be (and will not be) a part of a community that harbours crooks or pretends that everything is OK and solved.

WHERE IS THE TRUTH? I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW!

I understand the natural curiosity by everyone when an individual chooses to make a change, but I would like to ask that we stop posting about these events. This causes problems which the new site policy was setup to address so simply focusing on today and forward would be a great help for me.

Nobody was asked to leave. Period. I still hold by my view that there has never been anything seriously wrong with the site or systems or users who operate here. Nothing major transpired behind the scenes except for a request that I subsequently executed. That's all there is to it.

It is my hope that the topics in the forum can get back to the topic of the site: photography.

With this said, expect some edits / deletes on posts that talk about past members or behavior. I have nothing against you or these posts personally, I am simply trying to follow the new rules I have put into place.

In the old forum, on the right side of the topic it would show whether or not you were subscribed to the topic.

Is it possible in this forum layout and I am just not seeing it?
