Thanks for all the tips. The show was last weekend and I ended up using my 85mm 1.8 lens which worked well with the 1.8 for the low light and 85mm for getting some up close shots. JRM thanks, you gave me that push I needed to try higher ISO's I'm use to worrying about that because I had trouble with significant noise even at 800 I have since then bought the D300 and shot with that last weekend. I decided to try an ISO of 1600 and I was pleasantly surprised.

My white balance seemed fine with the colored lights coming out the color they actually were. I was having fun playing with the lights in Lightroom. I never shot with colored lights, gels, or filters before so I never saw the effect they can have in post processing. In Lightroom I changed some to greyscale and then used the greyscale mixer to change the lighting in the picture. You have a shot with a magenta light shining on the musician and can move the magenta slider in lightroom just as if it were a dimmer switch.

I have shot lots of bands over the years and have found showing up early to meter and white balance very important. stage lighting can really throw off your meter because its always changing so doing a run thru with the lighting guy always helps.

Certainly, the unmasking option only applies to the votes displayed on Subscribers Advanced Stats page. All other site functions (searches, forum searches, email, PM...) operate the same for all members regardless of their unmasking selection for their votes. WE

got hold of or borrow something like a 18-35mm f2.8 and shoot as high a iso as the camera is acceptable with..

Thanks WE I had cut and pasted his name into (I'm pretty sure) the same place you put but I missed the list of names and it said they couldn't find him. Who knows what I did, I'm getting old. Linda contacted him and he pm'd me so the stalking is over. You were so helpful to me about shooting basketball (ha ha and you acted like you were an average joe) I thought I would post asking for tips on shooting bands.

From the forum screen select MEMBERS.

Go to the SEARCH OPTIONS at the bottom of the page.

Type in the user name (or partial) of a user you wish to contact into the SEARCH USERNAME box.

Click GO on the right side of the screen.

Susan, Ha Ha Ha, yeah, not a good idea. My brother arranged for me to be able to take pictures of a band that is having a CD release party. The last time I went to the bar with my brothers I got a little more tipsy than I like my family to see and don't want a repeat performance. I'm surprised my brother didn't tease me and mention our last outing.

Linda, thanks for your help, I'll try it. Sorry to hear your not on the committee, but I can understand why you might not want to be at the moment.

I thought you could only pm from the forums? They never heard of him. I did just see though that he is one of the newly added Junior DAGC members so he is not far. Thinking I'm a stalker, I never thought of that :w00t: Maybe all 3 of us fellow GC junior members named Linda should all try stalking him, that should really freak him out!

Linda, does he ever come to the forums or do you know a way to get a hold of him? I went to his profile and his name is just repeated in the parenthesis, so that is his forum user name too? Searched his name on the forum with no results. Clicked on the link to his website and it couldn't be displayed.
