Okay, I'm hardly new here, but I'm still looking for some way to directly contact another member. Does it exist? Maybe I'm missing it.

I don't mean a forum member, where I can click on the person's profile.

I mean if the person doesn't participate in the forums.

Someone left a comment and I'd love to discuss it with them. But my only means of communicating is to reply to the comment publicly.

Eric, if such a feature doesn't exist, I encourage you to create one. It's on every other photography site I use.

Thanks!

This has been suggested before (by me!). There is a way at this time, it is rather tedious, but it works. If you will click on the 'photographers' tab and search for that photogs name, it will also give you their user #. Then you can go to the forum and find that user under the members list where you can either email or pm that person.

In the forum section, there is a listing of members. It shows 1785 forum members, so I think that may be all the members, not just those who have used the forum. To find a member, go to the Forum home page.

While it does not seem possible to search by username, you can bring up an alphabetical listing by first letter of username.

Then, it's a matter of scanning through the list to find the specific member with whom you wish to communicate. There are buttons for email or pm.

Members who wish to allow or prohibit contact, can choose to toggle these options on their forum preferences page. Also, there exists, theoretically, the opportunity to select individual members to allow or prohibit communication access.

There is a member search capability under "Photographers" menu item on the main menu of the website, but, as you correctly point out, it doesn't lead to any communication on the profile page. That would be a helpful feature.

Thanks to both of you! I'd seen the member list in the forums, Richard, but I was so focused on the person's real name that I forgot to think about the user name. *sheepish grin*

and dont forget , if they dont have a forum name,,you have to just type in   "user93332"..no space ..

that also is something that I support..you cant go and "talk " with the photog directly from the other site "area",,it definately would be a plus I agree!!
