Hello all.  New to the forum (but not the site) and would appreciate help with answers to any of all of these questions, if anybody knows the answers.

Thanks a lot in advance.

1- I have had a few 'wrong category' marks on my list..  1 here and 1 there.  Should I worry about this?  Does this affect wins?

2- If I realize I need to change the category (or name) of one of the photos.  Does this affect it's current votes or chances of winning?  And if I do after that shot has won an award, does that make it win in another category?  (not that i want to do that - but i recently had to change a category, for an already winning image) and would feel very guilty if it won in 2 categories.

3- I need to delete a few of the non-winning archived images.  But i understand that even archived images have a chance to win.  Is that true?

If so, will it be safe to keep only my highest rated archived image in each category (for a possible win) and delete the lower archived ones in that same category?

lol.  sorry for the big questions.  Hope this is less confusing to you than it is to me.

Have a great day

Faisal

Faisal, welcome to the forums!  I'll answer your questions by number.

1: The wrong cat indicator is just informational to let you know if you may have mis-categorized an image or simply whether voters feel it is mis-categorized.

2: You can only win in one category per award class (sig and standard) and that award category sticks to the image even if you change its current category.  Changing categories does not cause the system to take any action on the image, but could change the voters perception.

3: Archived images can still win awards, however if they were auto-archived, the system finds that unlikely for that particluar award class.  However, if it were archived on the weekly gate, then it might still have a good chance at a daily or category level.

Deleting images that are not performing extremely well for you can be a good strategy.  If they have awards attached, however, the power those awards give to your account will evaporate as well.

I hope this helps

I wonder if I could just sneak an additional question in ....  just to clarify...  If you switch categories mid-way through a voting cycle, do the scores follow into the new category? I hope that makes sense... Or is it best to just remove the image completely, and re-enter into the appropriate category?

Yep the votes follow. I've had two wrong categories and changed them. The votes followed. I"m sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me

Well, if the image received some heavy weight low votes, then you might be better off deleting and then re-entering in a more appropriate category.
