Decent or better equipment can most certainly help.....especially if you know (or learn) how to use it properly.

Owning such equipment would certainly work wonders for your self promotion exercises and most definitely generate a positive perception - however, as we all know......the proof is in the pudding!

If you want the rainbow - you gotta put up with the rain.

A conscience is what hurts when all your other parts feel sooooo good!

Question to the experts: is it really worth it to spend above 40,000 usd in such an equipment; I mean, it's a great piece of art, but am I going to get 46,000 usd better photographs than with my 900 usd equipment (lens included)? Even if I was an outstanding —which I'm not— photographer...

It depends, mostly it is the same question as: is it worth to use a 5x7" plate camera?

If you are making advertisement photos for ACME that will be shown on a 10' billboard the answer is definitely yes. If you are making 640 x400 pixel images to put up at DA we can compare it to shooting with cannons at sparrows.

The other argument is: set your $900 camera to 640 pixels and shoot a picture, then set it to max resolution and make that same picture and reduce it to 640 pixels. You'll be surprised how much details (especially in color shades) is lost by shooting low resolution.

If you have a problem with reality, quit taking photos and take up painting

Exactly to the point, sometimes it would suffice to take my Samsung point and shoot to do some pictures, but I still take the R8 because that way the clients perception of "quality work" is enhanced.
