Thank you for being a part of the DailyAwards.com community. I hope your experience is going well. For the past few months there has been discussion off and on again in the forum regarding a weight cap for standard image ratings. This issue has reached a critical point where implementation is likely to happen.

The idea is as follows:
Today, the signature rating is calculated based on the votes from the top 7.5% of the community. Also today, standard ratings are derived from the votes of all users (including the top 7.5%). This proposal would cap the weight effect from signature members (the top 7.5%) on the standard image rating.
As an example:
Today, an image gets the following votes
Weight: 3 Score: 9
Weight: 300 Score: 7
Standard Rating: 7.0198
Under the proposed system:
Weight: 3 Score: 9
Weight 300 Score: 7
The 300 weight user is capped at the threshold weight between standard and signature weights (today that is a weight of 11)
Standard Rating: 7.4286
This proposal would effectively give all users who are not in the top 7.5% of the community more power over the ratings of the standard images.
An important note: Signature ratings and votes WILL NOT be impacted by this change. This change only applies to standard ratings.

Great Idea. The weight cap sounds just about spot on  . I know that some people are capable of making more accurate assessments on photographs than others, but at the end of the day photography is all about peoples opinions and expressing peoples opinions........... Just wanted to post that I've noticed that several new shots I've come across in looking through portfolios have pretty different scores between standard/sig which makes me happy. That is all.
