OK the worst of my fears have come true. Yesterday I plugged in my external drive and the internal plug snapped. The disc itself is fine but it of course wont power up or plug into my computer. I live in germany and have no prob shipping it to someone that can retrieve the info but I have no idea where to go or to whom. Im at a total loss here as this is my entire portfolio (wow please dont tell me how dumb this is I already know!) I have a new external and am backing everything up threefold now but I need to retrieve the photos from the old disc. Im more than willing to pay whatever labor out there is fair but again, being stationed overseas have no idea where to go. HELP!

| Leah, Three deep breaths... you problem is in fact a minor one. I don't know if you have a Mac or a PC but at most it will cost you is $30 and you will not need to get anyone to take data off the drive. All you really need is a new drive enclosure. There a couple different routes you can take: You can get an external enclosure for under $10 off Ebay. Do a search with the following words. "Sata Ide enclosure" (remove the quotes) you will find that there are enclosures that have the ability to accept either IDE or SATA drive and by default also accept EIDE ATA drives. The only question is what size drive is inside your case. Simple enough to answer measure across your enclosure, if it's 3.5 inches or less it's a 2.5 in drive, above that it's a 3.5 in drive. As far as how to move the drive to the new case... It is difficult to screw up, the plugs only go in one way. The other thing you could do is to take the drive out of the external case and mount it in your pc. Not real difficult but you pc has to have a spare drive slot and spare cables which, if you haven't added a drive to your pc it most likely has. If you want to pop your external case apart and give me the model number on the top of the drive and the model number of your PC I can give you fairly precise directions.
