some of the photos I never see. Some I see over and over. These won't let me vote again of course.I wonder why? I vote about every day or other at least 100 times.

And there's this one guy (or woman, I don't know which) that the machine won't let me vote for at all, and I don't even know who they are. Is it because I gave him or her 10's a couple of times? Does the machine radar go off and think that we're in collusion? The photos were just  really that good. I wonder why I can't vote on this person's photos.

Addendum: I don't wonder why I can't vote on the same photo over and over. That was a typo.

That's interesting, what kind of message do you get when this happens? I don't know if what I experience happened to you prior to not being able to vote on a specific person's images but I will tell you what I know. While your voting if an image has already accumulated 15 votes and you vote too much higher or lower than a predetermined deviation from the current grade a message will come up above the next image in your voting window stating you voted too high or low and that the image will remain in your pool and may come up again. The image doesn't show up with the info on whose image it was or its current grade because you may see and have another chance to vote on it again. This has happen to me for voting too high before and the way I understand it if it happens too many times it won't let you vote on their images anymore. If you got any messages like I did before losing your power to vote I'm guessing that is why. I believe you are correct about why it happens; it is a safe guard against friend or foe voting. Some possible explanations:

1. Voting block in place due to an algorithm having detected friend/foe voting. I don't think this is automatically implemented. Requires a manual placement by Admin, I think. Although, I'd think you would know. If you haven't been advised of a voting block by Admin, I'd guess this is not the situation.

2. After 15 votes have been cast, there is a low vote check, which could discard your vote if it is a certain standard deviation or a raw score deviation below the established average on the image. There would be a text message which appears at the top of your voting window advising you as to why your vote was not recorded. (No vote check on votes which deviate to the upside.)

3. Failure to indicate a vote number. This happens to me a lot. I'll write a critque on an image of interest. Then, when the text message is done, I'll click the vote button without indicating a score. This does generate a text message on the next voting window screen indicating no vote was recorded. And, the image will eventually reappear in your voting window, on a random basis... just like the other images still in the voting pool.

4. Vagaries of Internet access, the server delivery of images to the voting window and your browser performance could at times interrupt the communication between your computer and the server. Not common, but possible.

5. Voodoo, witchcraft and other paranormal activity.

6. Static electricity and power surges.

7. Other things I haven't thought of.

For me at least, that is not true, I do get the message at the top of my voting window when I vote too high. I discussed it with Eric when I didn't understand how it works and he said it goes both ways.

I don't doubt you. This would be new news to me. So, for example an image carrying a stable average of "5.2" and a vote cast of "9" would be rejected? It's okay with me. Probably should be that way.

I didn't know that change had been made either. I was always of the opinion that whatever you did to one side of the scale should have been done to the other. My preference though would be to not throw any votes out.
