I second that question Tonka, how DO you achieve that, I have tried in my studio with lighting, reflectors, all kinds of different settings on the camera but they dont come out right.

Lighting from behind the subject yet out of view of the camera. The width of the outline is defined by the angle at which the light hits the subject, for a wider outline you move the light toward the camera for a narrower on move it away.

Rim lighting is often used in traditional portraits to create separation between a person with dark hair and a dark background to keep the head from blending in.
