in my opinion i think it worth 7 
but is there anything i can do to make it worth 8 
all the comments and feedback on this photo was positive ones 
i'll appreciate any critique or tip i can use so my next portrait photo be better

Hey Tonka.
As the gentleman stated, very nice angle and as well, an interesting expression.
You see, a portrait should have sub-context in the eyes or expression, and you have done that. As far as the lighting goes, it looks like you used natural light.
It would present better light patterns and smoother shadows, with his face angled more towards the light, and slightly up to prevent the deep shadows cast from his eyebrows. You could have also moved his face away from the light toward his left, to give you a split light pattern which is also masculine. A silver reflector under his chin or on his lap, would have brought out more information in his eyes.
Hopefully this will help some.
