Just wondering how many people actually enlarge the images before casting a vote.

In the past I didn't... I do now.
I've found that if a larger image is uploaded, then the smaller version in the voting window usually looks noisy and sometimes the focus seems soft, (as well as other lesser issues).... but when I click to enlarge, those issues are not in the large image.

I've had a few people tell me they viewed mine at the regular voting window size while voting and saw a lot of noise, but then later I had them enlarge it and they said the noise wasn't there.

So... I'm trying to figure out if it's worth uploading larger images. If people aren't viewing them before voting and the images don't look as good squeezed down into the voting window then it kinda defeats the purpose of having larger uploads.

opinions? thoughts?

i look at larger version.... It has been argued in the forums in the past that viewing larger images is unfair to non-subscribers as they dont have that option.... I dont agree with that position, but perhaps some stopped looking at larger images based on that argument....
just a thought,

I find that sometimes the noise is not there,,sometimes it is still there but less and sometimes the smaller version looks much better than the larger version...

I'm in the "sometimes" group.

I only do so if it appears to me to be a particularly
good photo which should be enjoyed larger, if possible,
or if I'm undecided about how to rate it and feel
I might get more information from seeing the larger
version.

I probably exercise this option most often
when it is some type of macro.

I look at the full size images sometimes. Sometimes they look worse full size. I ususlly look at the full size when I cannot make up my mind what score to give.

Amateurs worry about sharpness,
Professionals worry about money,
Photographers worry about light.

I work like Nick. If the image indicates it would look better larger I look.  If I'm torn between a couple of scores the Larger image either makes or breaks the score.

Same as Rocket. But I always look at the larger size in the panoramic category.
