Just for the record, I've pruned out all images with awards aged more than 1 year, except for last year's Annual Signature Award winner. (Hope you'll allow me to keep that one in my portfolio for a while.)

And, I've pruned out all images below 7.5 vote average with more than 15 raw votes. This action cost me about 300 unrealized weight points, but that's life.

Mortgage Girl has proposed a cap on weight earned from category wins and signature category wins. I support her proposal. The most prestigious and valued awards on this website come from front page wins... in the daily, weekly, monthly and annual categories. I strongly support MG in her suggestion to cap weight earned from category and sig category wins. This proposal will put greater emphasis on the more important, and harder to win front page awards. It will also reduce the focus on category wins. Should result in an improved quality of the best of the best.

It may also be time to increase the raw vote requirement for category and sig category awards and daily awards to 30 votes. This will reduce the impact of the occasional outlying vote. Furthermore, weekly and monthly award vote requirements could be raised somewhat. The annual award vote requirement is about right.

I agree 150% with this.I've always felt that on a site with as many members as this site has that giving awards based on the opinions of so few just wasn't a good idea.
