Richard, can I kill the grubs without using poisonous chemicals? Don't want toharm my pets or wild birds, I'm considering the effect on the kids.... JUST KIDDINGGGGGGGGG!

Ever read Rachel Carson's "Silent Spring"? You should be concerned about the environment. There is always risk in using pesticides, especially chlorinated hydrocarbons with a half life of 50 years.

That said, if you follow the label instructions on the insecticide, including the part about staying off the treated area for the required time, usually 24 hours, then you'll be okay.

Contact your state's extension entomologist! Don't take grub killing advice from a Colorado Photographer.

Richard, I did not enjoy that video in the least. I just about cried. Next time you have something like that to share, make sure that you include "not for Paula's eye's" in your post, K.

Yeah. My girlfriend just about cried when she saw it too.

I stopped watching nature shows because although I know it exists and that it's an integral part of the order of nature, I don't like watching videos about predation.

Okay my girlfriend has it but I called her......

1. You can try putting children's pinwheels at intervals around their runs, they hate the noise and should move on,,this applies to other critters as well..

2. You can put stinky stuff down their holes like, pine cleaner or
try partially mashed garlic cloves with an unwrapped piece of juicy fruit gum..

3. Make a mixture of "move on mole" stuff.
1 1/2 T. tobasco
1 T. liquid dish soap
1 Qt. water...mix it all up
and poor into mole runways..

4..and the tough stuff for last but this is messy..( this you can use if all else fails..
1 cup liquid dish soap
1 cup Castor oil
2 T. allum dissolved in hot water
Spray through a 20 gal. hose end sprayer and saturate the lawn...

Okay that is all I have for now ...

You are very welcome..

I hate chemicals especially in food..I don't use any in my yard either ,,and even if I wanted to...well ...We use Well water.....

NO refurbished water ick...lol..

and just FYI..plant foods actually deplete your soil of all it's nutrients..it is best to go with natural stuff...like Peet moss..

Mulch isnt that great either,,,I dont have the cashola anyway so last year I used HAY...it was a little messy but the color actually looked nice!! and it did it's job, was very biodegradable so I didnt have much to take out this spring and the hay that did grow was very easy to pull out...I was supposed to use straw but who cares..

and I only needed like four or five bales of it..compare that to mulch for as much area as I have wow.. that woulda cost me at least a hundred..

FACT...did you know that water/sewer treatment plants make mulch out of our waste as well...? it is put through a very thorough process so as it is not hazardous anddd, here in my area, they give it away free, and will even load your truck for ya..

Just an interesting fact...lol a little gross yes but au natural..
